LeakyCon is about celebrating the art of storytelling and the magic of reading. We believe pursuing an education and creating works of art are worthy endeavors, and make for a better world. Therefore, LeakyCon is pleased and honored to announce the first annual LeakyCon Academic Scholarship and LeakyCon Arts Fellowship.
This year, we will be awarding one worthy student a $2500 scholarship to help alleviate some of their tuition costs as well as one creative mind a $5000 fellowship to help their creation come to life!
The LeakyCon community is brimming with incredible creativity, drive, and passion for learning, and we are thrilled to be able to foster that passion with these programs. It is our hope that with the LeakyCon Academic Scholarship and the LeakyCon Arts Fellowship you will be able to continue making the magic that has given our conference so much life.
Keep learning. Keep creating. Keep making magic.

Is this for US students only or can Canadians apply too?
Tia, it’s open to everybody – US citizenship is not a requirement!
For Brits too?

Such a wonderful and amazing surprise! I will apply as soon as possible!
For the arts fellowship we have to make an “artistic project which best reflects the ideals of LeakyCon”. Do we only make one piece of artwork for this? Because it says “portfolio” and that usually means more than one? And what kind of images do you want to see? Do they have to be HP related, since that’s part of what LC is about?
I am not at all associated with the LeakyCon staff or this award, but here’s my interpretation of the page, which may answer at least one of your questions – the ‘portfolio’ is meant to be of work you’ve already done, to show your artistic talent; the ‘project’ is what you’re applying to use the money for, which you’ve either started and can’t complete without funds, or plan to start on should you win. I’m not sure if it has to be one giant project or could be several things, though.
This is amazing! =)
Question- I know it says anyone can apply but can the University they’re going to be anywhere too? Because in the UK (and I’m guessing a lot of other places) we don’t have GPA and most of our courses are three years. Not that I can apply anyway because the course I want to do is a one-year postgrad course but just thought I’d ask anyway.
Wonderful!
Just wondering — If I hoped to publish a novel or book, would that be an eligible project when applying for the arts fellowship? Also, are students allowed to apply for both the fellowship and the scholarship? Thanks.
Hi there, I have 2 questions about the academic scholarship. I am from Mexico and I want to apply, but my transcripts are in Spanish. Will that be a problem? Also, does the letter of recommendation need to be signed? Thank You
Was wondering about the recipients for the LeakyCon Scholarship and Fellowship awards…you mentioned that the winners would be announced on May 27, 2013. When and where will this information be posted?
