LeakyCon 2009

LeakyCon 2009 will bring friends together from around the world for fun, fellowship, and an opportunity to practice the greatest lessons of Harry Potter: bravery, nobility, acceptance, and above all, love.

Like any good Potions Master, we are remixing the traditional fan conference using the following essential ingredients:

More interactive programming, including innovative Youth Programming
In the Leaky tradition, all proceeds to go to charity
Fun, fun, fun! After all, isn't going to a conference all about celebrating Harry?

In sum, we are hosting a conference that will feel more like a party! We want to invite as many people as possible to enjoy themselves in Harry's world, and we want to do it for a great cause. With the most trusted name in Potter News at the helm, how can we go wrong?

Charities

Over the years, Leaky has hosted a variety of fundraisers to support worthy causes. For LeakyCon 2009, we naturally looked to our own not-for-profit roots to choose two charities to benefit from the event:

BookAid International: This global charity is dedicated to promoting literacy for disadvantaged peoples in Sub-Saharan Africa and Palestine. For individuals in these areas to achieve their highest potential, the need for literacy programs is paramount. Leaky has supported of the worth-while endeavors of this organization for several years, and we are proud to continue this tradition.

The HP Alliance: The HP Alliance is dedicated to the eradication of real-world evils, such as genocide, AIDS, poverty, and global warming. A kind of clearing house for charitable activities, the HP Alliance uses love, friendship, and social action to fight the Dark Arts in our world. By the example of Dumbledore's Army, Harry Potter fans can support the HP Alliance while enjoying the LeakyCon 2009 experience.

Staff

The all-volunteer staff of LeakyCon 2009 is an eclectic bunch. We have been busier as House Elves behind the scenes, working diligently to make sure your time at the LeakyCon is everything you want it to be!
