Dust off your witch’s hat, and don your best dress robes, the LeakyCon Boston Cosplay Contest is officially accepting entries!
We’re looking to see how you brought the characters and creatures we love from the books and movies to life! Whoever or whatever you are in the Wizarding World, you’re welcome to enter!
This year’s contest will feature a Pygmy Puff Division for contestants who are 15 years old or younger, and a Phoenix Division for contestants who are 16 years old or older.
People over the age of 15 may accompany a Pygmy Puff contestant to judging and the Cosplay Parade, but only the Pygmy Puff contestant’s costume will be judged, even if the other person is in costume. Anyone may enter as a group in the Phoenix Division.
THE CONTEST WILL TAKE PLACE
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2019
THE PROCESS GOES AS FOLLOWS:
REGISTRATION: To reserve a spot, each contestant must register online via this form, or by registering on-site during the allotted check-in period. We have a limited number of entries slots open and all contestant entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once the slots are filled up, there will be a waitlist.
If you are participating as part of a group, please submit the form individually and arrive with your group at check-in.
CHECK-IN: There will be two designated time periods on Sunday for contestants to check in with a member of staff and have a picture taken of their finished costume. If a contestant doesn’t check in during one of these periods, they will lose their spot, and it will be given to someone on the waitlist.
FINALISTS: Contestants will be notified who the top finalists are by midday on Sunday. Those finalists will move on to a final judging session that will take place later that afternoon.
COSPLAY PARADE and WINNER ANNOUNCEMENTS: All contestants are welcome to partake in the Cosplay Parade on Sunday afternoon. The winners will be announced at the end of the parade.
Further details and times regarding check-in, judging, and the Cosplay Parade will be announced at a later date.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please email [email protected].
Rules & Questions
Prefabricated, store-bought costumes are not eligible for prizes, but are welcome to participate in the cosplay parade. Contest costumes must have been made by the contestant. Though a portion of the costume may be from purchased goods or commissioned work, more than 75% should be constructed by the wearer, their friends, or their family.
If you have mobility concerns or if your costume is elaborate in some way that makes a handler necessary during the onstage parade and contest, please include a request for assistance in your entry form. Friends, family, etc. are not allowed backstage with adult contestants without advance permission.
Costumes must conform with the LeakyCon Code of Conduct and the rules of the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center.
Visible LeakyCon badges will not be required on stage, but should otherwise be worn at all times.
If your costume requires power, it must be part of your costume design. No electrical outlets will be available.
We have no limit on the size of costumes or props, but LeakyCon reserves the right to deny contestants with costumes that pose a risk to convention attendees, personnel, or property.
Email us at [email protected] and a member of our programming team will get back to you as soon as possible.
