General Questions

1. What is the LeakyCon 2011?

LeakyCon 2011 is the second conference from LeakyNews.com, focused on the canon and community of Harry Potter. It is a full charity conference, with [i]all[/i] proceeds benefitting Book Aid International and the Harry Potter Alliance.



In short, it is what happens when the best academic minds in the Harry Potter fandom and its most dedicated fans come together to create a canon-centric environment in which all of us can learn, talk, and play.

2. Do I need to be a certain age to attend the conference?

In the past we have only accepted people aged 14 to 17. This may change to include a family track at 2011. Please stay tuned.

3. When will the conference be held?

LeakyCon 2011 be held from July 13-17, 2011, though may extend a day earlier if necessary. Keep tuned to the website for updates!

4. Where will it be held?

LeakyCon 2011 will take place in Orlando, FL, in close proximity to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park. The majority of the conference will take place at the Royal Pacific Hotel; we also have rooms at the beautiful Portofino.

5. What charities will benefit, and how can I learn more about them?

Proceeds from LeakyCon 2011 will go to two charitable organizations, BookAid International and The HP Alliance. We encourage you to visit their websites to learn more about them.

1. How much will LeakyCon 2011 Cost?

We are still determining our pricing schedule. Please stay tuned.

2. How do I register?

We will let you know as soon as registration opens!

3. What is included in my registration?

A lot! We will be more specific as the date approaches.

4. How do I modify my registration to add a keynote?

5. What if I need a refund?

Our refund regulations will be posted at the same time as registration opens.

Programming and Events

1. How would you define your conference?

LeakyCon 2011 is a fan conference, with an emphasis on canon-driven programming and events. We want to you to have fun and enjoy your time together as only
Harry Potter fans can! We will offer a wide range of activities, from formal academic programming to informal programming to special events. We will also
feature a fantastic youth track with programs geared toward our younger attendees.

2. I have a fantastic idea for a program. How can I submit a proposal?

Our call for proposals will be open soon.

3. What events will take place at LeakyCon 2011?

1. How are you affiliated with The Leaky Cauldron?

LeakyCon 2011 is sponsored by The-Leaky-Cauldron.org, the number one Harry Potter destination online. The Leaky Cauldron is proud to present this conference. We hope that you will enjoy your time with us in Boston!

2. Are you affiliated with JK Rowling, Warner Bros, the Christopher Little Agency, or Scholastic?

LeakyCon 2011 is officially an unofficial event. We are neither connected with nor employed by J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., the Christopher Little Agency, Scholastic, or any representatives of the preceding entities.

3. Who will be staffing LeakyCon 2011?

LeakyCon 2011 will be staffed by many of The Leaky Cauldron's volunteer staff, some of the hardest-working and most talented people in the fandom. Dedicated to providing our guests with a magical experience unlike any other, our staff will lay the groundwork for the conference and oversee it as it comes to life.   You can meet some of our staff members here!

4. I want to be a vendor at the event. Whom do I contact?

We will be opening our call for vendors shortly!

5. Can I bring my baby or toddler to LeakyCon 2009?

LeakyCon 2011 is intended for teens and adults, but pre-mobile children may attend the conference with their parents.

6. My teenager wants to attend LeakyCon 2011. What can you tell me about the accommodations for teens?

It is important to note that all attendees of LeakyCon that are under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. If our guest is not being accompanied by their parent, they will have to check-in with their chaperone and present a Permission Slip at that time. That permission slip will need to be completed by the guest's parent and notarized (notarization required for US residents).

7. I'd like to volunteer at your Con, who can I contact?
