General Questions

1. What is the LeakyCon 2009?
LeakyCon 2009 is what happens when the best academic minds in the Harry Potter fandom and its most dedicated fans come together to create a canon-centric environment in which all of us can learn, talk, and play.

2. Do I need to be a certain age to attend the conference?
Because of legal restrictions, we cannot accept registration for fans under 14 years of age. Fans from 14 to 17 will be required to attend the conference accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone. We have a complete (link to Parent Packet)Parent Packet explaining more about our conference, and we encourage underage fans to discuss these materials with their parents or guardians.

3. When will the conference be held?
LeakyCon 2009 be held from May 21 through May 24, 2009.

4. Where will it be held?
LeakyCon 2009 will take place at the historic Boston Park Plaza Hotel, located in the Boston's beautiful Back Bay neighborhood. Conveniently located within walking distance of Boston's best shopping and sight-seeing, the Park Plaza will be our American Hogwarts for the weekend.

5. What charities will benefit, and how can I learn more about them?
Proceeds from LeakyCon 2009 will go to two charitable organizations, BookAid International and The HP Alliance. We encourage you to visit their websites to learn more about them.

Registration

1. How much will LeakyCon 2009 Cost?
We have not yet determined the pricing schedule for LeakyCon 2009.

2. How do I register?
Registration is not yet open. However, if you plan to attend, please complete an Intent to Attend Form. You will be notified via email when registration opens, and you will receive a $5.00 US discount when you register.

Programming

1. How would you define your conference?
LeakyCon 2009 is a fan conference, with an emphasis on canon-driven programming and events. We want to you to have fun and enjoy your time together as only Harry Potter fans can! We will offer a wide range of activities, from formal academic programming to informal programming to special events. We will also feature a fantastic youth track with programs geared toward our younger attendees.

2. I have a fantastic idea for a program. How can I submit a proposal?
Our call for proposals will open 2008. At that time, you will find a complete listing of guidelines and acceptable programming ideas on our Programming page. All proposals will be submitted to our vetting committee to ensure they are appropriate for the conference.

Events

1. What events will take place at LeakyCon 2009?
The LeakyCon 2009 staff is working overtime to plan special events! More details on this most exciting part of the conference will be available soon.

2. I have two words for you. Wizard Rock.
We have two words for you: Of. Course! The best bands from the Wizard Rock scene will wrock the night away at LeakyCon 2009. Stay tuned for announcements!

1. How are you affiliated with The Leaky Cauldron?
LeakyCon 2009 is sponsored by The-Leaky-Cauldron.org, a not-for-profit website that brings you the best in Harry Potter news, information, and community. The Leaky Cauldron is proud to present this conference. We hope that you will enjoy your time with us in Boston!

2. Are you affiliated with JK Rowling, Warner Bros, the Christopher Little Agency, or Scholastic?
LeakyCon 2009 is officially an unofficial event. We are neither connected with nor employed by J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., the Christopher Little Agency, Scholastic, or any representatives of the preceding entities.

3. Who will be staffing LeakyCon 2009?
LeakyCon 2009 will be staffed by many of The Leaky Cauldron's volunteer staff, some of the hardest-working and most talented people in the fandom. Dedicated to providing our guests with a magical experience unlike any other, our staff will lay the groundwork for the conference and oversee it as it comes to life.

4. I want to be a vendor at the event. Whom do I contact?
We welcome vendors, and our call for vendors will open 2008. At that time, you will find a complete listing of guidelines and acceptable programming ideas on our Vendors and Sponsors page.

5. Can I bring my baby or toddler to LeakyCon 2009?
LeakyCon 2009 is intended for adults, but pre-mobile children may attend the conference with their parents.

6. My teenager wants to attend LeakyCon 2009. What can you tell me about the accommodations for teens?
LeakyCon 2009 has developed an innovative Youth Programming track designed to offer teenagers from 14 to 17 with unique, age-appropriate activities along with the traditional conference offerings. We offer a (link to Parent Packet) Parent Packet that will answer many of your questions.
