What is LeakyCon?

LeakyCon is a fan convention rooted in the community that has arisen from Harry Potter devotees. It blends the nerdy fun of a Comic-Con with the community and excitement of South by Southwest. We’re all about creating real-world connections between stories, those who create them, and those who love them.

What do you do at LeakyCon?

Everything! In the past, we’ve had programming ranging from discussions about similarities between Buffy and Harry Potter, to Disney sing-alongs with actors from Glee. We host performances, panel discussions, roundtables, and more with our Special Guests. In the evenings, we continue the party with concerts and the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball!

When and where is LeakyCon?

LeakyCon is returning to Orlando, FL, in 2014. This year, the conference will be held at the Orange County Convention Center from July 30–August 3. See our Hotels page for more hotel and travel information.

How old do I have to be to attend LeakyCon?

There are no age restrictions for attendees, but some of our programming may not be suitable for younger children. Just like Harry had to be 11-years-old to attend Hogwarts, our recommended minimum age is 11.

What are your policies for attendees under 18 years of age?

Attendees under the age of 18 attending LeakyCon without a registered parent or legal guardian must bring a signed and notarized permission form when they check in. Permission forms can be downloaded right here.

Attendees under 18 attending the convention with a parent or guardian may forgo the permission form, provided that they check in together.

Please note that LeakyCon does not offer chaperone tickets. Parents or guardians who wish to attend programming with their children must purchase their own registrations. Children under five may attend for free with a parent or guardian.

What ticket type should I choose?

That’s up to you! You can see a summary of the ticket types on our Tickets page.

What do I need to bring with me to check in at the conference?

You just need a print-out of your confirmation email and a government or school-issued photo ID. A copy of a birth certificate can be used in place of a photo ID for attendees under the age of 18. Please note that tickets are non-transferable, so the name on your badge must match the name on your photo ID.

Attendees under the age of 18 attending without a parent or legal guardian must bring a signed permission form which can be downloaded here.

When will you release the final programming schedule?

The final programming schedule will be released several weeks prior to the conference. In the meantime, you can see programming guides from previous conferences on our Programming page to get an idea of what to expect. If you are interested in becoming a presenter, please keep an eye out for our Call for Programming.

Will there be an event at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios?

Ah, so you’ve noticed that there’s a Harry Potter theme park in the same city as LeakyCon, have you? Yes, we are working closely with Universal Studios Florida to create an event for our attendees. This event will not be included with your registration and must be purchased through LeakyCon. More details soon!

How do I register?

Registration for LeakyCon Orlando is now open and will remain open until tickets are sold out. Starting July 30th tickets may be purchased on-site at the appropriate ticket counter.

How do I pay?

During the registration process, you will be prompted to pay. You must pay in full using a Discover, American Express, Visa, or MasterCard credit card. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash, personal checks, or PayPal.

Why was there an error processing my payment?

Payment failures are most often caused by problems with the Address Verification System. Please confirm that you have entered your billing address exactly as it appears on your credit card statement. If you have double checked your address and you are still unable to pay, please email [email protected].

How can I modify or cancel my registration?

You can modify or cancel your registration prior to July 21, 2014, but please note that the last day to receive a refund for the cost of your registration minus a $4 transaction fee is May 31, 2014. To modify or cancel your registration, simply log in with your email address and confirmation number. You will be able to modify the registration type, but you may not modify your personal information because tickets are non-transferable.

How can I register more than one person?

When registering, you will be prompted to “add people.” This feature will allow the primary registrant to register additional people and pay for them in one transaction. Please note that all attendees must have different and unique email addresses. The primary registrant will receive all confirmation emails and be able to modify all registrations, but the additional registrants will only have access to their own registration. Please be sure to print ALL confirmation emails, as each attendee will have an individual confirmation number.

What is your refund policy?

You may receive a full refund minus a $4 transaction fee prior to May 31, 2014 by canceling your registration. After May 31, no refunds will be issued. Please note that it can take two to three weeks for your money to be redeposited into your account after cancellation. Tickets are non-transferable.

How can I volunteer at LeakyCon?

Send an email to [email protected] and a Volunteers team member will be in touch!

Is LeakyCon accessible to those with disabilities?

Yes, LeakyCon strives to make the magic of the conference accessible to all attendees. There will be wheelchair accommodations and preferred seating at all MainStage events. If you need of individualized assistance, you may request a medical aide badge for a family member or friend by emailing [email protected]. Medical aide badges offer attendance to conference programming while in the service of an individual with a disability. Please note that some programming, like concerts and the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball, may involve flashing lights or smoke. If you have any further questions, please email [email protected].

Can I give a LeakyCon registration as a gift?

Absolutely! When you register, enter all the information for the intended recipient. You should also check the box that says “I am registering on behalf of this person.” You’ll then be prompted for your own name and email address, so that we have somewhere to send the confirmation email without giving away the surprise!
