Hello LeakyCon!

 

In just six months, we’ll be coming together in Chicago to celebrate the magic of fandom. The excitement, enthusiasm, and welcoming spirit of LeakyCon is unmatched. As the pieces start to fall into place for this year’s convention, we wanted to take a moment to update you on where we’re headed.

 

Starting this summer, LeakyCon will be incorporating programming and guests from even more of your favorite magical fandoms beyond Harry Potter. This has been in the works for a long time. And frankly, we had originally planned to start this with a little more subtlety, but for a lot of reasons, it’s time to make the change.

 

So what can you expect at LeakyCon going forward? All the same things you love about a Harry Potter-only event, just with more fandoms that we think fit in with the spirit of LeakyCon: the kind of excitement that makes you reread your favorite series over and over, analyze your comfort show frame-by-frame, and build your own magical worlds with your fandom friends.

 

You’ll find programming specific to individual fandoms (like The Slayer and the Toll of Being the "Chosen One"), as well as “crossover” panels that dive into multiple fandoms (Bards to Barbarians - Sorting Classic Characters, The Chosen One's Chosen Girl). Learn how to play a new tabletop RPG, get a peek at the behind-the-scenes magic that brings our most beloved worlds to life, and meet some of your favorite actors and creators. 

 

To our long-time LeakyCon attendees, rest assured that the Harry Potter fandom will always have a home at LeakyCon. This shift might even feel familiar to you, especially if you joined us at LeakyCon in 2013 and 2014. We will always celebrate the joy that we find when we come together to create lasting memories and push each other forward. We’re just putting a little Extension Charm on it.

 

We’ll have even more details soon, but in the meantime, take a look at some of the programming you can already expect to see at LeakyCon Chicago and if you’re feeling inspired, submit some of your own!
